The project’s core objective is to interpret what BIPOC people actually endorse privately and to name where mainstream porn categories and representations don’t match lived desire. Findings highlight both highly endorsed interests (including under-discussed themes like body worship and certain care/power roleplays) and “polarized” categories where responses split strongly (e.g., ASMR, Age Play, Chastity), pointing to active negotiations around stigma, identity, agency, and representation.
This workshop translates the data into practical tools for providers and lovers: a “range-based” approach to assessment (beyond porn labels) that helps people see themselves, articulate conditions for consent, and explore desire without fetishizing or pathologizing. Participants leave with ready-to-use prompts and frameworks to support kink-affirming, culturally responsive sexual health conversations in clinical, educational, and relational contexts.
